At its most basic level, the Zumi Power Transformer converts electricity coming out of your home's 120 volt wall outlets, into the kind of electricity coming out of the 12 volt battery in your car, often accessed by plugging something into that car's cigarette lighter. This is the same process that happens when you plug your iPhone into its small white wall charger, also converting the 120 volts coming out of your wall, into the kind of electricity coming out of your 12 volt car battery, which is what the iPhone needs to charge. The Zumi Power Transformer does it at a 200 watt level, while your iPhone charger does it at a much lower 5 watt level. WHAT IS IT MADE FOR, AND WHY DID I ORDER IT? The Zumi Transformer was specifically made to do convert AC to DC for the motor in certain motorized residential gates, which needs the same type of electricity that your iPhone does. I do not have a motorized residential gate, but I ordered the Zumi transformer for the many other items that use the same 12 volt electricity coming from your car battery, called DC (direct current). I can use it to charge my iPhone, or power a headlight that I removed from my car, and many other things. OTHER USES FOR ELECTRICIANS AND OTHER PROFESSIONAL CONTRACTORS ONLY With that in mind, I plug this transformer into one of my home's AC electrical outlets, and use it for any items that need DC power. That is basically any USB plug that you connect into your iPhone's wall charger, but it does it much faster. The aluminum box it comes in is waterproof, making it a good source to power your outdoor lights, etc. Plus, it does did not get hot, because most of the items I used required much less than the 200 watts it is capable of.
